Cannon Builders, Inc. utilized a "U"-shaped, 110’ x 60’ Series S-70 Flexifloat configuration to support a 658,000-lb Manitowoc 2250 Series 3 crawler crane for a bridge project on the Snake River in Idaho. Equipped with a 180-foot boom, the 300-ton capacity crane set 157-foot-long concrete girders weighing 194,000 lbs. The 20’ x 40’ slot allowed the barge to straddle the existing bents while maintaining a safe lifting radius. The 110-foot-long hull had sufficient stability to allow the crane to move back, off center by approximately 8 feet, reducing the number of times needed to reposition the entire barge. Three hydraulically-operated spuds anchored the 5,600-sq-ft platform in 10 feet of water.
